Are We Ready to Enter Life in a Human Realm?

In 21st century, technology has evolved to its peak. Society already has many aspects of a virtual world. We can communicate effectively with people from all around the world, attend a remote course, and even work remotely. With the advancement of technology, it seems that in the near future, we could have a life in a completely virtual world – a human realm.

However, such life has its set of issues and potential hazards. Firstly, people are likely to be deprived of real-life social interaction and physical interaction. Virtual interaction just cannot replace real interaction since it has its limits. People cannot feel warmth from physical contact, and in the long run, the feeling of distance and alienation may arise among friends and family. Furthermore, the lack of physical interaction with the environment around us may impede the development of empathy and responsibility towards other living beings and even ourselves, eroding the basic moral values which we live with.

Secondly, the physical risks that a virtual world may bring us, such as electromagnetic radiation and computer virus, must be considered and addressed. Electromagnetic radiation caused by gadgets usage may cause health issues and computer viruses could cause immense amount of damages. Therefore it is necessary to overcome these risks and security measures should be taken into account, such as adequate and regular maintenance of electronic devices and strict regulations.

Apart from physical risks, psychological risks should not be neglected. Virtual world is constantly evolving, but it is difficult to keep the moral and ethical boundary constantly updated and in control. For example, virtual world and negative activities may interfere with people’s mental health and psychological integrity, leading to addiction or depression. In this sense, effective measures and regulations are needed to prevent and address such risks in order to create a harmonious virtual world.

In conclusion, entering into a virtual world has its own risks and benefits, and it is yet impossible to achieve a perfect human realm. Therefore, it is necessary for us to reflect on and understand these risks, and address them with well-prepared measures before embarking on the journey towards a human realm.
