American Pulp and Paper Technical Association Test Standard
The American Pulp and Paper Technical Association (APTPA) is a professional organization providing services to support and advance the pulp, paper and allied free sheet industries. APTPA is dedicated to and works for the advancement of technologies involved in the making of all kinds of paper, including basic testing and analytical services for the paper and related industries. APTPA also provides technical research and consulting services as well as publications and educational programs.
APTPA offers a wide range of analytical testing and certification services to ensure consistent quality and performance. Within this framework, the APTPA Test Standard is based on a series of voluntary standards and tests, which are developed and approved by the organization’s members.
APTPA Test Standard consists of two basic parts: the Test Standard and the Certification Programs that follow it. The Test Standard is a comprehensive set of standards and tests that are accepted as the industry standard. The Certification Programs are developed to validate and verify each test result.
The Test Standard is a detailed set of specifications and tests that provide the most reliable methods for evaluating and working with paper products. The test measures such items as the physical and optical properties of paper, its chemical makeup, the impact of water and other substances on the paper’s properties, and the resistance to heat, cold and light. Each test follows a strict protocol that is standardized and accepted across the industry.
When manufacturers submit their products for APTPA Test Standard certification, they must provide samples that meet the requirements of the test as well as meet specific requirements for quality standards. The sample then undergoes testing in the APTPA certified laboratory and if the test results meet the standards, the product is certified.
The APTPA Certification Program was created to ensure that certified products are of the highest quality and meet the APTPA Test Standard requirements. The Certification Program includes a series of audits to ensure that certified products continue to meet the test standard. Each product is inspected during manufacturing and the results are recorded. All products must meet the APTPA Test Standard and all testing results must be consistent and meet the same criteria.
The APTPA Test Standard and Certification Programs have been successfully implemented by many manufacturers and have helped to ensure the quality, consistency and reliability of paper products around the world. The intuitive and efficient APTPA Test Standard allows manufacturers to quickly and easily test their products and obtain certification. The Certification Program helps to provide the confidence that certified products are of the highest quality and meet APTPA Test Standard requirements.
