Metal Structural Welding Technology Regulation according to JGJ81–2002
Welding is a complex process and requires a specialized set of skills and expertise. Other requirements such as number of elements (such as welders) and pre-weld assembly work must be considered in order to meet the established weldment performance requirements.
The code also states the importance of proper weld inspection and acceptance criteria. The type and scope of weld inspections shall also depend on the welding process and test methods used. There are specific requirements for visual inspection, slag inclusion, undercut, and fusion acceptance. Other areas covered by the code include welding sequence, welded joint access, reduced thickness areas, welding in the presence of contaminants, welding the wrong joint (non-approved joints), and the requirements concerning the installation of welding machines.
