Analysis of Common Materials and Applications of Fasteners at Home and Abroad
Introduction
Fasteners are the most basic and fundamental components in the manufacturing process. It is a physical engineering component known as an internal component. They are products used to connect various parts and components together and play a very important role in the performance and reliability of the product. The application of mechanical fastening technology enables the composite parts and systems to realize more complex loading conditions, which in turn improves the quality of the product while also significantly reducing its weight. Due to the great versatility and versatility of this component in applications, many materials are used to make it.
Common materials and applications at home and abroad
1、 Carbon steel
Carbon steel is the oldest and most popular fastener material worldwide. Carbon steel mainly uses 1022 low-carbon steel and alloy carbon structural steel, and is divided into low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel and high-carbon steel according to the carbon content in steel. The comparison of the mechanical properties of low-carbon steel and alloy steel is shown in Table 1.

2、 Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a kind of low-carbon alloy steel. It is an integrated system composed of two crystallization elements: Fe-Cr.Because of its special physical and chemical properties, it is widely used not only in corrosion-resistant components but also in many fields. The general corrosion resistance of stainless steel is divided into three grades: 304, 316 and 18-8.The mechanical properties of the three grades are shown in Table 2.

3、 Non-ferrous fasteners
Nonferrous metal fasteners are mainly composed of aluminum, magnesium, copper, titanium and other metals and their alloys, and are widely used for decoration and high-end construction. In particular, aluminum alloy fasteners have obvious use advantages in aerospace and aircraft fields.Aluminum alloy fasteners are divided into two categories: aluminum alloy die casting fasteners and aluminum alloy solid riveting fasteners. The comparison of properties between them is shown in Table 3.

Application of Fasteners
Automobile industry
The main application products offasteners in the automotive industry are automotive pedals, door handles, brake cylinders, batteries, etc. It is often necessary to use high-strength and corrosion-resistant fasteners to ensure the reliability of cars. The commonly used materials are stainless steel and alloy steel.
Aerospace Industry
The main application of fasteners in the aerospace field is to fix the wings, fuselages and other parts of the aircraft. The space environment for aircraft is particularly harsh, and the fasteners used require high strength, light weight, corrosion and fatigue resistance. Aluminium alloy and titanium alloy fasteners are the main materials used.
In conclusion
Fasteners are the basic structure and components of machinery structures, and their properties and performance directly affect the performance and quality of the technology. The application of a variety of materials has enabled fasteners to meet all kinds of needs, and played an important role in the development of todays industry. Therefore, the research, analysis and selection of fastener materials are of great practical significance.
