The Mannesmann brothers, Reinhard and Max, were two German mechanical entrepreneurs who achieved great success in their fields during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Both Reinhard and Max reinvested much of the money they earned in order to :fund innovative research and programs benefiting their home region of Ruhr, Germany. Their altruistic actions included the donation of land, money, and buildings in order to create a hospital and school in their home town of Solingen.
