Characteristics of Reheat Furnace With Three Steps Blowing

Reheat furnace with three steps blowing is a new energy-saving technology of reheating. It is used in the steel rolling industry. The conventional steel reheating furnace uses outside air as combustion air, while the three-step blowing furnace adopts pre-blowing air, air-staged blowing air and post-blowing air instead. According to different steel materials, the three stages of pre-blowing, intermediate blowing and post-blowing are changed accordingly.

First of all, three-step blowing furnace has obvious energy-saving features. The pre-blowing air is sent to the bottom of the furnace to pre-heat the air, then air-staged blowing air is sent from the side of the furnace to preheat the air, and finally post-blowing air is sent from the top of the furnace to reach the pre-set temperature required in the furnace. Due to this kind of air-staging blowing process, preheating time can be significantly shortened. Besides, due to the secondary heat of pre-heating, the temperature increase of the heating medium can be further reduced. So the three-step blowing furnace can save about 15%-30% of fuel.

Secondly, three-step blowing furnace also has a good combustion effect. The pre-blowing air is first injected from the bottom of the furnace to oxidize the fuel to release energy, the air-staged blowing air is then followed from the side of the furnace to accelerate the combustion process and keep the furnace burning steadily, and the post-blowing air is finally conducted from the top of the furnace, which can complete the distribution of heat faster. By adjusting the distribution of air inlet, the three-step blowing furnace has a better temperature distribution and a good shape effect.

Thirdly, three-step blowing furnace also has good performance on thermal distortion. Usually in the three-step blowing furnace, the pre-blowing layer at the bottom of the furnace is highly turbulent, which can cause the steel material to dissipate heat correctly and resist thermal deformation. What’s more, the air-staged blowing layer at the side of the furnace has a certain scope of diffusion, which can effectively reduce the thermal deformation and the internal stress of the steel material, and form a temperature gradient in the furnace to absorb the heat.

Finally, three-step blowing furnace has strong environmental adaptability. Generally, steel reheating furnace needs to use a high-efficiency dust collector with a large amount of investment, but the three-step blowing furnace only needs about half of the dust removal equipment for the same output, which can reduce the investment and cost. What’s more, the natural gas, coal gas, heavy oil, light oil and other fuels used by the three-step blowing furnace are relatively clean, which can reduce environmental pollution.

In summary, three-step blowing furnace has the advantages of obvious energy saving, good combustion effect, good thermal distortion resistance and strong environmental adaptability, so it is very popular in the steel industry.

The Three Step Method of Backward Converting is a process used in metallurgical furnaces to reduce sulphur content in steel. It is a cost-effective alternative to traditional methods, such as oxygen blowing, in cases where steel quality is compromised by the presence of high sulphur levels.

The process involves a three-step procedure. In the first step, the steel is reheated in a converter furnace to a temperature that allows the iron oxides to react with the sulphur. In this step, iron oxide is added to the molten iron bath.

In the second step, air is blown through the molten iron bath at a lower temperature. This causes an oxidation reaction to occur, which results in a reduction in the sulphur content.

In the third step, the molten iron is cooled and then re-melted. During this step, any remaining sulphur that did not react with the iron oxide is released, thus decreasing the sulphur content.

Advantages of the Three Step Method include reduced energy costs, higher efficiency, increased steel quality and improved safety. The process is also environmentally friendly as it reduces the amount of sulphur released into the atmosphere.

The Three Step Method is a cost-effective solution for reducing sulphur content in steel. It is able to reduce sulphur levels far more effectively than traditional methods and can be used to produce a more uniform product. The process is highly efficient and requires minimal intervention from operators, making it an ideal choice for metallurgical furnaces.
